Safe operations within all workplaces are the first priority - no work is so important or urgent that it cannot be done safely. 

Stramit Building Products is committed to protecting the health, safety and wellbeing of its workers, labour-hire employees, contractors and visitors by continually striving to prevent injuries and illnesses in the workplace.

The company meets this commitment through the implementation and continual review of an effective Work Health and Safety Management System to prevent injuries and illnesses and to achieve its organisational goals.

The company demonstrates its commitment to providing a health and safety workplace to all workers, labour-hire employees, contractors and visitors through the following:

q Ensuring all managers, supervisors, workers, labour-hire employees, contractors and visitors are aware of their responsibilities in relation to safety and holding them accountable for the provision and/or maintenance of safe and healthy workplaces and systems of work.

q Involving and consulting with, workers, labour-hire employees and contractors in decisions impacting upon their health and safety and in realising the company’s health and safety objectives

q Providing relevant information, instruction and supervision to enable all persons to work in a manner which will minimise risk of injury or ill health.

q Providing regular, adequate and effective training to all workers to enable them to carry out their work safely.

q Disseminating relevant health and safety information to all workers, labour-hire employees, contractors and visitors.

q Minimising disruption and personal hardship related to occupational injury and illness through health promotion, effective injury management and rehabilitation programs.

q Establishing measurable objectives and targets for safety across all areas of the business with a focus on continuous improvement in eliminating injuries and illnesses.

q Adopting a risk management approach as an integral part of overall business operations and in line with the nature of workplace activities conducted.

q Complying with all legislation, regulations, self-insurance requirements and company regulations with respect to health and safety.

q Providing and maintaining safe systems of work so far as reasonably practicable.

q Design, manufacture, import, install, construct, commission, supply and maintain safe plant, fixtures, fittings and structures for their safe use so far as reasonably practicable.

q Provide and manage substances for their safe use, handling and storage so far as reasonably practicable.

q Provide adequate facilities for the welfare at work of workers, including ensuring safe access to those facilities.

q Monitor the health of workers and the conditions at the workplace for the purpose of preventing illness or injury of workers arising from our undertakings.

q Providing the necessary resources to enable the effective implementation of this policy.

q Reviewing the WHS Policy to ensure it remains relevant and appropriate to the organisation.

q Providing appropriate internal and/or external safety expertise to maintain the Safety System and improve site safety standards.
